How to become a volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of the Doorways team! Volunteers do everything from frontline service to fundraising. Without our volunteers, Doorways couldn’t deliver the life-changing services and lasting results we do. See our group and individual volunteer opportunities below.

Please contact us at (703) 504-9284 or VolunteerInfo@DoorwaysVA.org with any questions or to learn more.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Please note that all individual volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. All volunteer positions require a minimum one-year commitment (two shifts per month). Volunteers working directly with clients must complete 40+ hours of training and a background check.

If you’re interested in volunteering with Doorways, please complete our online Volunteer Application Form. It will help us learn a little bit about you, your interests and your background.

The next step is to attend one of our monthly Volunteer Information Sessions to learn more about Doorways and the different volunteer opportunities we offer. For more information about the next Volunteer Information Session or if you have any questions about the application process, contact Doorways’ Volunteer Resources Manager at (703) 504-9284 or VolunteerInfo@DoorwaysVA.org.

Since Doorways’ founding in 1978, community members have come together as critical partners in our mission. There are many opportunities for your group to learn more about the issues, join our cause, and offer support to survivors and their families at Doorways. Here are ways you can get your group involved, including youth and kids!
